ON THE WRONG CONTINENT

After a month I arrived in Japan,
I started to paint for this exhibition held
in January 2004.

The leading Idea was to try to capture a sensation of being in the wrong place at the wrong time...

As I arrived here, I looked for a new and suitable new surfice for my paintings, Japanese pine-wood was the right choice, almost every house is made by this wood, and I just needed to go
five minutes by foot to be surrounded by plenty of these magnificent trees.

I also found this new way of framing that I like so much.

Each painting is like an open window to the wrong continent.

Dopo un mese dall'arrivo in Giappone, ho iniziato a dipingere per questa mostra tenutasi nel gennaio 2004.

L'idea portante era di cercare di catturare la sensazione d'essere nel posto sbagliato al momento sbagliato...

Appena arrivato, mi sono messo alla ricerca di una nuova superficie adatta ai miei dipinti e il legno di pino giapponese e' stata la scelta appropriata, quasi ogni casa e' costruita con questo legno e mi bastava andare a piedi per cinque minuti per essere circondato da un'abbondanza di questi alberi stupendi.

Ho anche trovato un nuovo modo di incorniciare che mi piace molto.

Ogni dipinto e' come una finestra aperta sul continente errato.
